As planned, the second Financial Education training took place on Praslin on Friday 4th & Saturday 5th December 2020 for participants from Praslin & La Digue. The training is in line with the Financial Education Strategy with the objective to empower participants with skills and knowledge in budget management.
Mr Michel Pierre, Chief Executive of the Citizens Engagement Platform Seychelles (CEPS) officially launched the training in the presence of CEPS Chairperson, Mr Jude Fred, CEPS Program & Events Manager, Ms Chantal Ellen, and NGO members. While explaining the rationale behind the training Mr Pierre stated that it is a ‘train the trainer’ programme whereby the participants are receiving first-hand information on budget management to later embark on an outreach programme to educate the wider population on the said subject.
The training is very crucial given the new era Seychelles has emerged into as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The training covers both the theory and practical aspects of budget management so as to provide a wide range of knowledge to the participants to be disseminated later.
